Goodnight Moon
Shivaree
Shivaree are one of the most underheard acts of the early 2000s — a Los Angeles trio built around the remarkable voice of Ambrosia Parsley, who brought a cabaret-damaged, vintage-noir quality to alternative pop that had no obvious contemporaries.
Goodnight Moon became their best-known song after placement over the closing scene of Kill Bill: Volume 2 (2004). The song's lazy, humid quality, Parsley's voice like smoke in still air, suited the moment perfectly.
Shivaree remained a cult act despite the Tarantino exposure — a reminder that film placement guarantees attention, not consequence. The song deserved more than it got.
"Goodnight Moon is the most sensuous song in the Kill Bill soundtrack, and that's not a small competition."
