Carter Tutti

Chris Carter and Cosey Fanni Tutti were the backbone of Throbbing Gristle — the British industrial group who effectively invented industrial music between 1975 and 1981. As Carter Tutti, they have continued making electronic music together for decades.

Museum of Sleep, from their 2012 album Cabal, shows the mature Carter Tutti: warm synthesizer textures, Cosey's voice as another instrument in the mix, a groove that is simultaneously dark and danceable.

Carter and Tutti's place in music history is secure: Throbbing Gristle invented a genre, influenced everyone from Nine Inch Nails to Depeche Mode, and remained active long enough to be recognized for it.

"Carter Tutti make darkness that you can live in comfortably."
