Jingle of a Dog's Collar
Electriclarryland was the Butthole Surfers' major label debut — Capitol signing them in 1996, at the tail end of the alternative boom. "Pepper" became an MTV hit; the band that had specialized in genuinely disturbing live performances was, briefly, on mainstream radio.
Jingle of a Dog's Collar is from the less commercially compromised section of the record — a track maintaining the psychedelic strangeness of earlier Butthole Surfers material while benefiting from the improved production budget.
The Butthole Surfers' major label period is complicated — both a commercial success and a creative compromise, depending on which tracks you're listening to.
"Electriclarryland is the Butthole Surfers deciding to be accessible, which made them stranger."
